What BestPlaces Users Say about Georgetown

Georgetown, Texas is a charming city located about 30 miles north of Austin. With a population of over 80,000, it offers a mix of small-town atmosphere and big-city amenities. Known for its historic downtown square and beautiful parks, Georgetown has been attracting more and more residents in recent years. To get a better understanding of what living in this particular place is like, let's take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net.

According to John, who has been living in Georgetown for 17 years, "The community here is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and there are always events and festivals going on. It truly feels like a small town where everyone knows each other." This sentiment is echoed by Sarah, who moved to Georgetown 5 years ago. She says, "I couldn't be happier with my decision to move here. The sense of community is like nothing I've experienced before. I love being able to walk around downtown and see familiar faces."

However, not all reviews are completely positive. Mark, a 2-year resident of Georgetown, points out the rising cost of living in the area. He says, "I love the beauty of Georgetown and the proximity to Austin, but the cost of living keeps going up. It's becoming harder to afford for many people, especially with property taxes constantly on the rise." Similarly, Laura, who has lived in Georgetown for 10 years, mentions the traffic as a downside. She says, "The roads here just can't handle the increasing population. Rush hour can be a nightmare, and it seems like there is always construction going on somewhere."

Overall, it seems that the community and small-town atmosphere are what make Georgetown stand out for its residents. While the cost of living and traffic can be challenges, the city's charm and amenities make it a desirable place to live for many. As Melissa puts it, "Georgetown is a gem of a city. It has everything you could want - great schools, beautiful parks, and a strong sense of community. I can't imagine living anywhere else."

Something for Everyone - 2/3/2017
My family represents every major ethnic background and we have no issues here. The cost of living is about 10% higher than some of the other areas in everything but utilities, which is 35% cheaper. We have lived here for 3 years on both the east and west sides. It is a 25 minute commute to North Central Austin. People keep to themselves and maintain there properties. The town has Southern Charm without crime and non of the racism you experience in liberal cities. Men hold the door for ladies. Homeless people are not on the corners and everyone is civilized. It's a great place to raise a family. You need to make a combined income of 75k to make ends meet and 125k to live comfortably with a family of 5. Schools are good, but there are currently a lot of changes because of the population growth. The only downsides here are no organic restaurants, but great Farmer's Market and some of the weirdos from Austin have moved in. It is a wonderful place to raise a family and to call home. Read More
