What BestPlaces Users Say about Southlake

Southlake, Texas has been consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the state, with a population of around 30,000 people. Located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, this city boasts great schools, plenty of shopping and dining options, and a low crime rate. However, to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in this particular place, let's take a look at some user reviews from BestPlaces.net.

According to Sarah H., "Southlake is a great place to live for families. The schools are top-notch and there are plenty of community events and activities for kids. The only downside is the high cost of living, but it's worth it for the quality of life." This review highlights the family-friendly atmosphere and the excellent education options in Southlake.

On the other hand, Mark P. shares, "I've lived in Southlake for the past 10 years and I can't imagine living anywhere else. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and there's a real sense of community here. Plus, the shopping and restaurants are unbeatable." This review emphasizes the peaceful and tight-knit community in Southlake, as well as the convenient amenities.

In contrast, Melissa T. has a different perspective, stating, "While Southlake is a beautiful city with great schools, it lacks diversity. As a person of color, I often feel out of place and have experienced instances of discrimination. It's definitely something to consider before moving here." This review highlights an important aspect to consider for potential residents – the lack of diversity in Southlake.

Finally, John D. shares, "I've lived in Southlake for most of my life and I have to say, it's changed a lot. It used to be a small town with a tight-knit community, but now it's overcrowded and the traffic is unbearable. It's lost its charm." This review shows a negative side to Southlake's growth and development, as some long-time residents may not be happy with the changes.

Overall, Southlake seems to be a highly desirable place to live, with its great schools, safe neighborhoods, and convenient amenities. However, potential residents should also consider factors such as the high cost of living, lack of diversity, and the city's growth and development.

Great place and very transient! - 3/19/2007
Southlake is a great community to raise a family. They have a superb school system, which is why we chose to live here. It is a very competitive place to live when it comes to sports...so if you can igore that part of it...you are fine.

We moved here from Chicago and left behind all of our family. Since there are so many transient families here...it was so easy to meet people that are from somewhere else. And you can't beat the weather...I will take heat anyday vs. below zero Read More
