Vermont taxes pensions and s. s., real estate and property taxes are high. Heating cost is high. Gas, food, restaurants are high since it is a tourist area. Extreme cold winters, pleasant Summer and Fall seasons and damp Spring. Convenience to shopping is average but smaller stores with more limited choices. Minimal crime, low traffic are pluses. access to major hospitals is poor, secondary hospitals is adequate. Poor job climate for young and retired. Education institutions are minimal.
