In general, many people in and around this area have a tendency to be clannish. If you are willing to stay there for a decade or so, you may be finally fully accepted.  More

Spent some time in the city but lived in multiple suburban areas in the metro area. I lived in Farmington Hills, Novi, Birmingham, and Rochester. Really, all were great.  More
