Compared to Houston, Texas, the cost of living is lower. Property taxes are about 70% lower. Car insurance 50% lower and homeowners is 60% lower. Sales tax is 1/4%  More

Hammond Indiana is within easy commute to Chicago and the Downtown area either by car or train, offering you all the advantages of city living, but not at the city cost.  More
