With a population of just over 500 people, it is an intimate and close-knit community that relies heavily on subsistence fishing for survival. The scenery is stunning, with towering mountains to the north and east and wild coastline in every direction. During summer months, the surf offers some of the best salmon fishing around and the rivers are full of sockeye salmon. Winters are cold with temperatures sometimes dropping below zero degrees Fahrenheit, but it’s a great time to enjoy outdoor activities like snowmobiling, ice skating, and cross-country skiing.
