The Kusilvak Census Area of Alaska covers an area approximately 6,072 square miles with a population just over 4,130 people. It is located in the west-central part of the state and is home to a variety of enclaves made up of Native Alaskans such as the Yupik, Central Alaskan Yup'ik and Inupiat peoples who have traditionally relied on subsistence hunting, fishing and gathering activities to exist on this land. The economy here relies heavily on farming and fishing while other industries include petroleum exploration and development.
