The Northwest Arctic Borough of Alaska is situated in the northwest part of the state bordered by Canada's Yukon Territory to the east. This region covers 16,000 square miles and is home to approximately 7,400 people. Its predominantly Indigenous population have called this land home for many generations and it continues to provide cultural ties and subsistence opportunities with fishing being one of its most important industries. The region also contains some of Alaska’s most scenic landscapes that offer recreational opportunities such as boating, camping, hunting and sightseeing tours.
