Anderson County, KS is located in eastern Kansas and bordered by Osage, Franklin, Lyon, Coffey and Woodson counties. It was founded in 1855 and named for Colonel Richard C Anderson Jr., a prominent military officer from Missouri during the American Civil War. Its capital is Garnett and its largest city is Greeley with a population of 1,987 people per 2019 estimates. Anderson county covers 648 square miles with an agricultural economy including soybean and wheat production as well as oil development activity in rural areas.
