Texas County, located in the southern region of Missouri, is a rural county that covers an area of over 880 miles and population of 24,441 people (2020). The county seat is the city of Houston and it includes the townships of Buffalo Gap, Jamestown, Liberty, Licking and Richland. The economy is based on agriculture with crops such as soybeans, wheat and corn grown here. Other local industries include dairy farming, manufacturing and education.
