Logan County is located in southern West Virginia bordering Boone, Mingo, Lincoln and Wyoming counties. Like much of West Virginia it was historically reliant on coal mining but recently other industries have taken over as its main economic driver - such as timber and tourism. The county seat is Logan which is home to Chief Logan State Park - a popular tourist destination along with miles of hiking trails, nine campgrounds and several lakefront sites.
