Washakie County is located in central Wyoming with Worland being its county seat. As of 2019, the population was estimated at 8488 inhabitants making it one of the least populated counties in Wyoming yet it has some unique attractions that make it a desirable tourist destination such as Hot Springs State Park where visitors can soak up therapeutic mineral waters from Big Horn Hot Springs or take a dip into Boiling River near Mammoth Hot Springs. Other attractions include military museum at Worland Airport; fishing spots along Grey Reef Reservoir or Shoshone River; Willie McIntyre Museum showcasing Native American artifacts; and 18 available golf courses throughout the county including Washakie Golf Course - one offormer named best public golf course in Wyoming by Golf Digest Magazine since 2006.
