As a resident of Lees, NC, I am deeply concerned about the rising crime rates in our community. According to the latest statistics, our town has a higher rate of violent crime at 22.7 per 1,000 residents compared to the national average of 22.7. This means that the risk of being a victim of a violent crime is higher in Lees. Property crime is also a major issue, with a rate of 35.4 per 1,000 residents, which is higher than the national average of 35.4. It is disheartening to see these numbers and know that our community is not as safe as it should be.
