Thinking of moving to Boston -
11/13/2008I was thinking of moving to Boston because the schools spend the most amount of money towards education I have seen on Sperlings. Are the schools as good as the statistics show? It seems from most of the reviews that Bostonians are really stressed out. Were coming from Florida. I think it may be too much of a culture shock for my family. Are people really this angry in Boston? Why is the education so good but the attitudes so bad. Doesn't education, wealth and happiness go "hand in hand"?

Hampton has too many gangs. -
11/2/2008I am a military dependant. I took my son to Langley this year to check out the base to see if we may like a transfer. I was shocked when we got off the plane and everyone was extremly rude. I am fro Florida so we are used to polite and home town people. I was shocked to get off the hwy ramp exit to the base and stop right in the middle of gangland. It scared me to death. I had to wait until they got out of the road and hold my breath we weren't threatened. I am not used to that we don't have gangs here. The gate gaurd warned me about not leaving the base at night and get back before sun down. We went to Williamsburg and Busch gardens and it was great except the gangs were hanging around the parking lot waiting for the sun to go down. I couldn't stand the unsafe feeling anymore and we changed our tickets to head home a week early. I can't believe how bad the people have it there. I pray we never get orders there. If you do have to move in the area live in Williamsburg and commute. The local news frightened me the most. The murders rape, and general crime every night was something I had never seen before. People you don't have to live like that! Get with local law enforcement and make some changes. Take your city back. Its dirty and delapetated. I never saw a police officer. A junkie terrified us on the highway when traffic was stopped in a jam. He kept yelling at us and banging on the window. We were stuck. I never ever want to go to Hampton again as long as I live. I will stick to the South!

2/14/2008Rocky Bayou Christin school had a bad reputation for spanking children and letting upper classmen spank lower classmen. Have they lifted their corporal punishment rule?

10/8/2007Who are all these people giving positive rankings of these schools. It is all fake. These schools are riddles with false claims. Listen to your students not the staff. They have for years tooted a brilliance horn that doesn't exist. The homeschool program is the best in this area and the county schools know its their greatest competition. The schools are riddled with drugs and crime but it goes ignored because if it gets reported the rep goes down. Parents trully listen to your kids they are not the ones lying to you the good old girl and boys club around here is.

10/8/2007The housing here is terrible. I have lived here for 20 yrs. The housing boom hit and the realtors out priced the market. The only people who will survive here are the ones who bought 20 years ago. The homes were origianally bought by military retiree's or military officers. Neither have done anything to their homes in 20-25 years. Now they expect you top come in and buy their problems. Most houses will need new roofs major appliances relaced, termite damage repair, frosted windows from broken seals, new ac/ and heaters and there are a lot of chimmneys thatare overlooked from hurricane damage. The officers move in destroy houses and in two years move out. The retirees simply don't do anything to maintain their houses and go into homes or pass on. There children can'yt get rid of these homes because the repairs are to extensive. I am moving out of here as soon as possible like everyone else because the place is dead. There is nothing to do because Destin has blocked our passage to the beaches. I haven't been to the beach in 5 years and I live less than 3 miles from it. No one goes there anymore because the tourist have ruined it. The schools are plagued with drugs and there isn't enough law enforcment to handle the influx. The taxes are overwhelming and you will not be able to buy insurance. You will have to buy a florida pool which means insurance for the bank not you. Good luck but all the locals are cutting their losses and running as fast as they can!
