Winneconne, WI

Small Town but Nice Home - 7/13/2010
Winneconne is my hometown. I hated it as a teen! But I loved it as a kid and I look back on my small town roots and value them dearly! Winneconne is small enough to walk, bike, or even snowmobile through. It has plenty of summer entertainment with Sovereign State Days in July as well as any other small town function that may be going on. There is actually quite a balance of simple living pleasure going on there. It is located within 30 minutes of larger cities so access to anything it does not have is certainly available. If you have a special diet, do not like snow or gossip, or if you crave a diverse crowd, it may not be for you. However, if you want great farm fresh produce in the summer, it is great! There are gas stations, churches, dining, bars, a few local and larger brand markets/shops, hair salons, laundromat, schools, and banks so you really don't have to leave town if you don't want to, but for your own sanity, it is probably recommended! Nothing is open beyond 11pm or bar close though, so be prepared. It's a simple small town and has a good amount of nature and is located on a river. You can pretty easily live a good life since it is less expensive and there are larger cities nearby. You can easily own a nice house and have your material needs met by working a regular job, unlike many larger cities or suburbs. All and all, if I weren't so over the snow and the lack of whole foods year-round, I'd consider moving back.
