4/10/2018You will most likely love Southern Utah although there is a definite schizophrenic split in regards to the people. On one hand, you have a heavily Mormon community which is more private and fundamentalist than in SLC. On the other hand you have a very liberal, outdoorsy hippy-ish type of residents. Of course there are all kinds in between but you will see a lot of folks as described above. Southern Utah is a magnificent and awe inspiring landscape.

Not my cup of tea -
1/2/2018Every city has it's positives and negatives. Southgate's positives to name a few include relatively inexpensive housing, a decent public transportation system, no lack of basic shops, easy access to freeways and close to Detroit, a friendly but overworked police force and many neighborhoods that that have several generations staying put. I have been here over 3 years and am making plans to move. Here's why. Southgate is overrun with drug addicts. Heroin flows freely here. Where there's heroin, there's crime. And a growing gang problem. There's also choking pollution from a massive refinery, mining and heavy industrial complex. There's a big lack of green space and recreation can only be found in nearby cities. The roads are slowly being improved but time will tell if some major thoroughfares will ever be anything but bone jarring.
