If Ir's That Bad, The Mob Should Clean It Up -
10/1/2009I was considering a move to LV as I have just retired, but the candid and honest comments have me looking elsewhere.
It used to be that Las Vegas was a no-combat zone for the mobsters who agreed to co-exist there.
So why don't they clean up the streets and chase off the penny ante criminals who give the town a bad reputation?
I would not have moved there for the casinos or the gambling, but I can see that sleaze begets sleaze.

Not much culture -
8/31/2009Las Animas does not offer much in the way of culture. It is developing a new museum. The majority of the few eateries specialize in Mexican food, which can be tiresome after a while. John Martin Reservoir 18 miles east of town offers boating and fishing. There are some wildlife areas designated for hunbting, but it will be prairie type hunting.
There is a lot of artistic talent in a town of this size, but most of it focuses on photography, the easiest to do.
The community is 90 miles from the closest small shopping mall in Pueblo. It is about a two hour drive to the foothills of the Rockies. The town has a golf course and the local community is very tight and inbred and thus newcomers have to find their own connections, usually at a church.
Kids have a chance to compete in varsity sports because the school is small.
