6/14/2006This area is getting more and more congested but is still a true Florida experience with the ocean just a bridge island hop away. I would advise caution walking alone just about anywhere in the area though as the crime rate is pretty high. Rents are going up too.

12/15/2005This is a vibrant town that has wonderful libraries full of brand new items, the world famous Florida House that teaches sustainable living, and beautiful beaches. I like the thunderstorms but won't swim in the ocean because of pollution issues. The summer time traffic is good but watch out for yourself in the winter. If you are well off and can afford one of the downtown condos this is the place to retire.

8/6/2005If you want deep blue skies, changing weather, vistas of mountains and great plains all in the same place then this is the best place!
It is lacking a whole foods market downtown and that is probably the main reason I won't be going back to my hometown anytime soon. I like to live downtown and walk to shop. That is my idea of sustainable living.
