Alaska is amazing, all of it. I loved Fairbanks when I went to UAF. The only problem I have is to pick a place! There are too many choices, and it is so big it is not convenient to travel from, say Fairbanks to Valdez for the weekend. My only compliant is why property is so expensive for this gigantic EMPTY state. Go figure.

Why did you ever move there? The Golden Heart feels live real alaska, Not Los Anchorage. I do agree on a lot of the comment too, but AK IS not for most people.

Don't move to Socal is my only advice, especially the Coast.

Hispanic population is very high, I think it is 60%. Santa Paula however is 90%!

Property taxes are very high, the private schools in the area are 500% better than the public schools in Fillmore. Low achieving schools are not due to low funding! The school bureaucracy is the issue, lot of non-teaching parasites in the school bureaucracy.

We left San Diego to move to Ventura County. San Diego is more like LA. Too big now, and WAY to expensive. San Diego has turned to a liberal San Francisco wantabe MEGA city.

I agree 99% with the comments, I live in the "OAKS" and our rundown streets have not been repaved in more than 20 years. My prop taxed are 6K+ a year. What do I get for my taxes? Little to nothing!

Promising nice small city, but not here yet. - 10/8/2021
Moved from Ventura CA to Fillmore CA for better housing affordability. Then we needed to upgrade and moved to Santa Paula. That was a compromise from a small town feeling to a bigger and impersonnel smalish wantabe city. The city is 90 percent hispanic, with many low income residents, and with a small tax base. So, of course, things like repairing roads and other city services are minimally available. Water is from well water and water is very expensive, so if you want plants and a lawn this it not the place to move. More and more of the country living aspect of Santa Paula is being removed. Farmers sell their farms to developers and the city allow tract housing to spread inside city borders. Downtown has no character except being rundown with lots of urban blight. Could be a lot better, and maybe if the city council will one day elect some good upgrade to city life. I doubt it though!

Half hour HWY 126 Freeway drive to the ocean. Nowhere near any water.

A friendly town, good climate, charming n - 10/8/2021
Roads are bad, dirty squalid downtown, gang murders every other year. The Tax base is small, most of the city appears to be low income Hispanic migrants, so of course city spending is non-existent. Very high water & sewer costs. Fillmore is a much nicer town with a small town feel, unlike Santa Paula.
