Overview of Community -
12/15/2009Mt. Vernon has a varity of small suburb areas. They lay on the north edge, filling the boundries at the beginning of hwy 174 and the high school(built in 1997), to the outskirts of I-44. A main builder for this development area is Majestic costume homes with plenty of spacious lots. On the south side of town there is ampel acreage for sale, Mark Adams, or Doug Adams have a good prospective on this area.
Mt. Vernon is a friendly town, with pride in it's history, Applebutter Make'n Days, being the Mountaineers(mascot), and being the county seat. They are currently undergoing overpass widening and a turning lane that splits the Blvd. Traffic will flow much better with easier access to the interstate.! The location of the town is supurb if you want a nite in a bigger city, Springfield or Joplin are 35 miles on either side of I-44.
