10/15/2019I've been in Huntsville for a little over 17 years (moved here from Atlanta). I am convinced this is the best place in the U.S. for engineers. It is well-known that Huntsville has the highest per-capita concentration of advanced degrees in the entire nation (sorry, Silicon Valley!).
As Rodney said above, the job market is hot and bound to get hotter. For electrical and computer engineers, you can easily make well above $100K if you have decent experience, and the cost of living is dramatically lower than other areas where you'd see those salaries. All of that combines to make the *quality* of living index quite high in Huntsville, and probably one of the highest in the country.
The city also does a wonderful job of creating green spaces and all-around making this a great place to raise a family. Moving my family here was the best decision I ever made. Now if they could get the pollen count down, it'd be paradise. :-)
