Poor Quality of Life -
5/15/2010Merced use to be a decent city when I was growing up here. It is now a gang infested disgusting city to be stuck in. Gangs shoot right into crowds of people that have nothing to do with a gang but just do it for some reason. Moving away is not as easy as some may think especially when a person has a lot of ties in a particular place like I do. Graffiti is rampant, but the city does it's best to eradicate the graffiti when it is done. I must say the city is doing a good job of painting over the graffiti as soon as it happens, usually. After may years of neglect, Merced City is finally starting to repair some of the very very bad streets. Traffic is very bad in downtown Merced areas especially around noon and from 3-6pm. Don't move here if you can help it.

A Terrible Town To Live In! -
4/18/2010Merced, CA is quite possibly the worse possible city in all of California if not for sure Central CA. Modesto, CA was voted as the worst city in CA by one magazine I can't remember the name of. Merced, CA has none of the likeable amenities like Modesto, CA with so many unlikeableness to boot. Gang crimes are the worse in the nation per capita, teen pregnancies are the worse in the nation, unemployment must be about the worst in the nation and is the worst in Central CA for sure at 21.97% as of this writing. The streets are out of a city that doesn't take care of anything but the city top brass pet projects that do not matter. The city spends millions on a multi level parking garage above and across the street from city hall spending millions while the city streets are in terrible despairingly bad condition. Graffiti is a norm in this city and in the county. You go into stores that you think you are in third world nation with all the Spanish being spoken out loud because the people are either to unintelligent to learn English or just to lazy. I like Mexicans that are respectful of other people and speak English and train their children not to run amuck in stores tearing the store up and dropping things not where they found them and the parents just look at them and say nothing as parents should. This is normal here in Merced, CA where whites are a minority. The roads have debris all in the gutters and on the sides of all outer roads and papers and trash everywhere. This is a town like nowhere I have seen not even in towns close to Merced. I just have to speak up about my disgust about this city.

A Disgusting Town To Live In -
4/17/2010Merced for so many reasons is such a depressing and low down place to have to live. Be warned if you don't live here that for years Merced, CA has only become worse and worse. Gang crime is the worst in the nation, teen pregnancy is the worst in the nation, unemployment is the worst in Central California at 21.97% as of this writing, graffiti is done overnight over and over even when the tasks forces try to keep up with it, the streets are terrible and are bad on the vehicle you drive over them with, stores you go in like Wal-Mart are a Spanish speaking nightmare everywhere in the store you constantly hear this disgusting language being spoken by those that won't learn English, on weekends in the Merced Mall the whole mall looks like inhabitants from a third world nation, the City of Merced builds pet projects that they want for themselves that cost millions when the city streets are at the point of total despair.This city is not a place for people seeking some semblance of a quality of life!
