Massapequa, NY | 7 Review(s)

I'm a single upbeat middle aged woman, with no ambitions of ever getting old. I am looking for a place to settle, away from the madding crowd, but not a retirement community that will put me in an early grave. I'm a traveler, but when not doing that, I prefer to live in an active area, Being a homeowner is off the board for me. Condo is the way to go.

I can understand your pain. You've seen it all and lived through it all. One can become jaded. Be let it be known, as much as you are tired of where you live and experienced the hardships, it is truly a city of beauty. Deep down there is no city more beautiful than NOLA. I am a NY'er, coming from a city that had its share crime and filth, diverse, and as cultural as it is, it cannot hold a candle to that lovely town. Remember, those politicians wont be there forever. We never had the corruptness, but we had a Mayor that REALLY cleaned up NY. You will too! People like your gov't officials don't last forever. Bless you.

I hope you're right Derek. I've been there twice, once for the Jazz Fest 2005. I LOVE it. If I had the money to restore one of those mansions in the Garden District, I would do it tomorrow!

A single woman, I was hesitant to go to Bourbon Street alone, but I did. I was fortunate to meet a gentleman that shared the entire evening with me visiting almost every bar and taking in the sounds and the excitement. What an inspiring place to be for the soul! I was hearbroken when I saw what Katrina did and learned the selfish reasons why. New Oleans has my heart and always will. I wanted to do the Jazz Fest this weekend, but circumstances didn't allow me. Once again, I hope the ambience and magic of that town stays alive as well as the quaintness it once possessed. The vagrants that cause the crime should only know how they rape and scar the beauty of that town. One must learn to see the forest for the trees.

Pretty much like that all over, Tim. Winters are milder is some regions where they used to be severe. Overall, is that a reason not to live in VA Beach? I was thinking of relocating there.

I agree with Dr. Nick. Try living in New York if you think traffic sucks. However, you could live in Atlanta, GA. I hear thiers supercedes (do you understand that word?) the 'sucky' traffic in VA. I visit Virginia quite often. I think, if you know how to drive, you can handle the traffic. Time for a change Krystal. I know, I know, that sucks too!

Pro's and Cons NYC vs NYC - 4/27/2008
I've read both sides of this argument now. You've lived there 15 years and settled in nice and snug. I have been to Savannah, loved it down by River Street, toured the jewels, Boneventure Cemetary and drank up all its charm and as much history as I could while there for the short stay. I even know why all the cobblestone! One of my dreams is to be in Savannah for the St Patty's day celebration! I, too, am from NYC. I still have to work to survive, but my question is, will I survive? I understand crime is pretty awful. I'm a single woman, close to retirement. What are my chances of making a go of it there?
