It doesn't get any better than this...for safety, -
2/21/2010Orinda is an extremely safe, quiet, bucolic place to live. The schools are incredible, parent participation is maximal. It's close to everything and yet has a feeling of being far away from the congestion. BART to San Francisco in a few stops. Drive over the Bay Bridge to San Francisco on a lazy Sunday in 20 minutes. 30 minutes from Sausalito and North Bay. Less than 10 minutes to Berkeley and Oakland, where there are a ton of cheap, excellent restaurants (dinner for $10-15!) Close to parks, Napa, easy access to the mountains. The climate is mild, but warm enough for a swimming pool in the summer.
What's not to like? The big pieces of property mean that neighbors sometimes don't know each other. I grew up in the Midwest and miss that closeness.
