Rochester, NY
Rochester is not evil -
4/27/2007Rochester is actually a wonderful place to live if you have a job or your chosen career has stability in precarious economies. There is amazing live music, local bands, culteral events, GEVA and surprisingly diverse restaurants. I have noticed that some of the criticisms stating lack of culture do not seem to recognize that this is a relatively small town. If you want 100 events every Friday night, then do not move to an area with less than 2 million people. Yes, the weather is cold for a long time. every year. As a kid I remember trick or treating in the snow more than once :) But, people who complain about the weather must have moved here with no clue. It's obvious that it's going to be cold, it's far north and it is on the lake. If you don't like cold weather move to the south. This is not a difficult concept. Rochester is quite beautiful with access to even more beautiful parks and natural areas nearby. If you can handle winter and have an education for job security, then I highly recommend living here. And, if you already live here and are complaining about there being nothing to do, pick up the "City", the free weekly for the area and branchout. Try to find something rather than complain about it.
El Cerrito, CA
Inexpensive -
4/27/2007El Cerrito is inexpensive to live in and close to where interesting things are happening. On the whole there isn't much to do here, with the obvious exception being the Cerrito Movie Theater with couches and beer! But it's cheaper and not long to commute from here.
