7/11/2005I agree, Pensacola isn't the prettiest, but it is pretty for historic towns and for seeing water everywhere you look. I wouldn't live in Pensacola though. The school systems are not as good and it does look run down if you veer outside of the historic districts/downtown.
We live in Gulf Breeze which is a nice little town with excellent schools and, again, water everywhere. It is beautiful. There are two nice parks for the kids and the zoo is only 10 minutes away. Destin is 1 hour way so that is nice and close. The Gulfarium, a mini-mini-mini-mini Sea World is also only about 45 minutes and the kids love the dolphin and sea lion shows.
Keep in mind though, that as pretty as it is, and it is a nice community there are hurricanes and that is why we are moving. The saying down there is, "that's the price you pay for living in paradise" and if you can pay that price - taking all your pictures and boarding up whenever there is a threat - for six months out of the year - then I highly recommend it.
