Mount Vernon is great car with no wheels -
1/25/2007I've lived in mount vernon for almost 15 years now. I just want to say that it's full of potential. Unfortunately, the way it's run and the general ho-hum attitudes of most of the people make it hard to be friendly or excel. Let's not mention that your lucky to find a job over $10 per hour.
Don't drive at midnight... you will be pulled over and beaten with a nightstick by the barney fife local police officers. There is 2 ymca buidlings and a library, a walking trail, and a few local parks. If you want to do anything else- your gonna have to go to the local wal-mart like everyone else.
Overall, the town is fairly safe. There is some decent schools and colleges in the area. But if you want to go somewhere to excel and make friends and all that fun stuff, you may consider looking elswhere. This place reminds me of a refugee camp.
