11/7/2015Having lived in both Austin and Seattle, I concur on the friendliness of Austin, it is pretty too, love Barton Springs.....Ok that is where it ends. Some of the houses in Seattle are the most beautiful... Austin is more brick and mortar. As far as competitors that is what competition is. Texas has horrible weather. I had to sit in a car while a tornado when near by on the freeway because I could not drive 2 blocks. Scary experience. People die in the flooding, it is so hot in the summer you sweat out your shirt between the car and the house. Give me the reserved people of Seattle any day....

11/7/2015Profiling is not the issue....We have look outs on the top of mountains all the way into Phoenix alerting the drug traffickers.....The illegal problem is gigantic here and is part of the reason the education system has dropped. We have so many illegal immigrants in this state that it is also part of the poverty and hunger rate in AZ. For others however the housing is great. It is more suburban so if you are used to an urban area it can take some time to develop connections. It has theatre, museums and great restaurants. The people are friendly, and it is low cost to live here.
