9/26/2021Ok, let me give you good people an update on what to expect in Rocky Mount. I've been hearing loud music all night. I walked down the road to see where it's coming from, thinking maybe it was a nearby neighbor, but it was actually coming from a house that is about half a mile away. Just before 1AM, I called the Rocky Mount police department to complain. They said the location is outside of the city limits, though the city limits sign is farther down the road, so she tried to transfer me to the Sheriff's office, but I was disconnected. The sheriff's office said the location is definitely within the city limits. An hour after complaining, the music was still playing at 2 o'clock in the morning, clearly audible from 1/2 mile away. Apparently, we need an outside agency to police Rocky Mount, because the Rocky Mount Police Department can't or won't enforce the local laws and ordinances and doesn't even know their jurisdiction. If you like hearing someone else's loud music at 2AM full of obscene language that I won't repeat here, well then Rocky Mount is the place for you! Also, someone drove by shooting a pistol out their window earlier tonight. It's just another night in Rocky Mount. Recently, it came out that the corrupt city manager and her friends in the city council spent over $70,000 of taxpayer money on a luxury resort, but if you complain about things like that, you're just a racist. That's what life in Rocky Mount is all about. I just wanted to give you folks an update. I wonder how many people will disagree with these facts. Again, feel free to tell us all exactly what you disagree with in my comments here. Let us all know the real facts if I'm lying for some reason about the reality of Rocky Mount. I grew up here, and it saddens me to see what has happened to Rocky Mount. It was known as "the city on the rise" decades ago, but now, it seems to be the city in demise. People keep complaining, but nothing ever changes in a positive direction here. This city has no future if the decent people who remain here don't work for a solution to the problems. I will do what I can until I move to greener pastures.

11/27/2020Sounds accurate. The police here are afraid of the actual criminals. They only give tickets to people like my boss man for burning some cardboard while the hooligans go wild. I look forward to leaving this place for so many reasons.

11/27/2020I feel your pain from 11, almost 12, years ago. This place sucks. They have not yet invented mufflers here, and every lowlife has acquired a 200 decibel radio these days, so try not to live near a road, folks. This is not the place for writers, programmers, web developers, or anyone else who uses their brain. I grew up living near NC 97 and later US 301, so I'm accustomed to traffic noise, but it's impossible to bear in 2020. That's of course in addition to all of the more serious problems you mention. This used to be "The City on the Rise," but now it's the city gone to heck. And they can get all the crooked city officials and all the worthless police to come here and click on the disagree button, but it's still true, and they don't even care about making this community a place worth living in.

11/27/2020A neighbor of mine was shot and killed a few weeks ago, and no one has been charged. I guess that's one way to keep the official murder rate from being even higher.

11/20/2020Anarchy. Not a good place to live. People drag race up and down the roads at all hours when elderly relatives and neighbors are trying to sleep, and the police here do nothing. It was going on again all this evening. The lowlife drug dealer neighbors were regularly outside in their yard hollering about MFing this and MFing that, playing drums and loud music at 1, 2, 3, 4 o'clock in the morning, and the police did nothing, even when I called them a dozen times. Don't expect the Rocky Mount Police Department to ever be any help. Very high murder rate and crime rate. Crooked local politicians. I could go on and on about Rocky Mount. The smart people move away.
