If you hate Glens Falls or just want out... -
11/20/2021Don't take it for granted. I was born(1980) and raised in Queensbury til 1998. I thought that the Glens Falls area sucked until I moved to Manchester NH. At first it seemed great because it was a different and much larger city compared to where I was from, so it was somewhat exciting being just 17 yrs old I had just finished high school. I got married had 2 kids now 12 and 18 and had a decent life here but I always wanted to move back home and raise my kids there. It wasn't that I was homesick as it's only a 3.5 hr drive im able to visit sometimes up to 10 times a year, but Queensbury/GF is a much smaller, quieter, cleaner, and definitely much safer than the city of Manchester. And really Manchester is considered safe for a small city was once a very desirable place to live but still, it's a completely different lifestyle. I realize drugs are in every town and city in America but anyone in the state of NH will tell u that Manchester has a horrible drug problem (mostly fentanyl and meth). You can live a great life here and u can make good money being 45 mins from Boston if u wanna sit in traffic for HOURS every day, however it's almost a must with the ridiculous cost of living, eventhough its tax free, and serious lack of housing (city apts are @1% vacancy, yup thats 99% full) along with the drug epidemic and needle laced playgrounds all adds up to another issue in the city; a record high homeless population! There are other factors as well but everyone's different. And I do agree that there isn't much going on nowadays in Glens Falls and yes it could definitely be better but the grass isn't always greener. There's really no place like home. Funny how a lot of people ?from my hometown hate it there.. but that's only because they've never lived elsewhere
