Low crime in zip code 08620 Trenton -
8/7/2007Please understand that while zip code 08620 is in the greater Trenton area, it is NOT Trenton!!! 08620 is technically Hamilton Township, and a fairly rural township at that. Trenton's crime rate is actually quite high, maybe like a 6 or 7. This has to do with the resurgence of gang activity. I live very close to the Trenton border (zip code 08619, which is considered Mercerville, Hamilton Twp) and although our neighborhood is great, there are a lot of scary passer-bys. Shootings have occurred less than 3 miles from my home, and vandalism, burgulary are quarterly incidents through out the year. 08620 is a better zip code to live in, but unfortunately, Hamilton twp schools are being infested with hoodlums they are shipping into our school districts from Trenton because they want to provide them with a better educational opportunity. I am all for that if the students chosen to come over show an interest in learning, not bullying other kids and taking over the school. I am looking to move out of the area, as I have 2 small children and see the quality of life declining rapidly. If I were not a mother, I would definitely move into 08620 or 08690 zip code without a second thought. The area is convenient and there are things to do, but once you have kids, you have to think twice.
