Arlington TX ranked 25th Best City in U.S. -
2/10/2020Arlington, Tx is the nation's "largest suberb". It's a great spot to raise kids with tons of parks and recreation. College town with U.T. Arlington @25k students and TCC as well. There are some great public schools with strong parent involvement and concentration in STEM classes starting in elementary school with college co-op courses and company driven internships or High Schoolers.
Ft.Worth and Dallas are both 20 min. & 25 min. drive away respectively and offer the bulk of museum, arts, festivals and city pedestrian activities. There is great night life and entertainment in DFW. Arlington has a low crime rate and it's police force must hold a bachelor's degree so less harassment but Tx in general uses the force to ticket heavily as revenue so use Waze to avoid speed traps. Work is abundant in and around the city. Traffic isn't bad if you leave before 7:30am. 8-9am it's pretty heavy everywhere. 5 -7pm traffic is busy. There is no public transportation, largest city in the nation without it, so you'll need a reliable vehicle with good AC and find a good mechanic.
The summer months here are very hot June-Sept. Winter's aren't bad but it's a wet cold. March-May and Oct. are the most pleasant months climate wise. All in all, there's inexpensive housing and living costs for higher standard of living than most of the country.
