Festus, MO
A beautiful town and fabulous place to live! -
10/17/2021I’ve lived in Festus for 3 years. It’s a beautiful town. I would describe the neighborhoods as picturesque. I love to drive around looking at all the houses and the incredible natural beauty, including massive amounts of trees and well maintained lawns.
Downtown is a cute historical little street with shops and restaurants, and the business loop has most every store and other business you’d need.
I live within walking distance to City Hall and the post office, which is down the street from The public library, which is great, and then Downtown.
There are many fun community activities with lots of participation from residents.
The schools look great from the outside and I see lots of school pride, but I don’t have kids at home, so I can’t speak to anything else about them.
There are many beautiful parks that are well maintained. I feel perfectly safe no matter what area I am in, including going for walks.
Since we moved here in mid 2018, there’s been constant upgrading of roads, and most streets are getting sidewalks.
The weather is great, with four seasons, and they are mostly mild. It snows about 4 times, with it staying on the ground about 2 days. The weather is never boring, with a wide range of conditions, from full Sun and blue skies to thunder storms, year round. It rains year round, about once a week, which keeps everything green, from March though November.
I’ve encountered nothing but nice welcoming people, including on the roads. You come to a 4 way stop and they always insist that you go first.
The cost of living is very good, yet it is a thriving town that is growing and continuing to always improve.
The surrounding towns are just as nice.
I’m a San Diego native. Festus reminds me of the cute towns on those Christmas Hallmark movies.
