Tulsa, OK

re: Come to Tulsa - 2/6/2012

--Can't say that I agree with everything you stated: Tornadoes and earthquakes are not only problematic in Tulsa- try the entire state of Oklahoma! Along with Missouri, and Arkansas. In addition, I am positive that the entire city of Tulsa is not filled with fat, lazy, gun-loving rednecks: many are hard-working, healthy businesspersons. Moreover, if you are going to criticize those who lack values of things, you should specify whom they are, rather than ravage the good names that many Tulsans strive to retain. As for the corruption, child-abuse, and death in DHS care and childcares, yes, it has happened. While corruption, child-abuse, and unfortunates in DHS and childcares are worldwide, you make it seem like Tulsa is the only city that posses those problems.
--Violence and property-crimes are certainly high in specific areas, such as North Tulsa. However, South Tulsa, Midtown, Downtown, and Riverside are full of wonderful neighborhoods, and diverse shopping areas.
-- Oklahoma definitely sustains fluctuating weather: it can literally rain one day, and be bright and beautiful the next. The temperatures often soar in Mid-June to late July/early August. The winters deviate year-to-year as well. Some winters hit Tulsa hard with snow and ice, others, not so much. Wind is a very common thing in all of Oklahoma as well, not strictly with Tulsa. It makes those hot summer days tolerable!
-- Indeed, there are potholes in certain roads throughout the city, but not down every street. They are primarily in older neighborhoods, less-traveled roads, and, sometimes, on main streets; however, the city often keeps up with them and keeps them filled. As for the trash? Again, not everywhere. You will find littered ditches along many lower-class neighborhoods and roadside in sections of North Tulsa.
-- As for the educational system, I cannot put forth any information. I did not receive my education in Tulsa.
-- Churches: yes, Tulsa is FILLED with them. However, many surrounding cities in Oklahoma are bouncing with Churches.
-- And hunting and fishing? What is wrong with that? Every state has their own recreational activities in which they like to partake. I am positive that Oklahoma is not the only state that fish and hunt.

Skiatook, OK

Beautiful lake; Downgrading community. - 7/18/2012
I moved to Skiatook when I was six years old. It wasn't a bad little town in 1996. However, it is slowly going downhill. Although it does have a beautiful lake, with gorgeous lake-view housing, the town itself lacks in many areas. It is definitely a high-school party town with drug abusers in every neighborhood. It has a few restaurants, a Wal-Mart, several gas stations, decent schools, and countless churches of various religions. After moving away from that town, I don't miss it. It used to be a nice place to raise a family, but now? Probably not.
