12/18/2009Josh is exactly correct. The people here have attitudes and are very rude. You can even watch the local news station weather man "Brown" and see how smart ass these people are. The town is very cliquish, unless you are a doctor or lawyer.
You cannot make any money here, the cliquish people here will not allow it. I worked for a doctor in Beaumont for over 5 years. One day I was talking to his wife and asked her about her facial cream, her response was, "oh honey, you can't afford it." Yes, people are just like this.
The beaches are covered with trash, the roads here have not been repaired, unless you are a doctor or lawyer. So driving down the roads will tear your car up. Dive in fron of the Beaumont-Parkdall mall, that is a joke. The city has trash all over it and people don't care. There is alot of racism here too, blacks against whites.
The university is a joke also with a refinary across the street, so all during the day you can smell the toxic air as you walk to your classes. All there is to do here is eat. Oh yeah, being close to the coast they do not even support the seafood industry. There is only 2 seafood resturants in the area and one is a resturant chain. There is alot of stealing going on in the local government. Their mall is a joke also, the clothing they sell looks like someone trying to work the streets. Turn on your TV and watch gangester rap and this the clothes they are selling, cheap looking
Even time it rains it floods the streets, why because the local government will not do anything about the canals that stay completely full all the time. People houses continues to flood each time and each time of the year...they don't care, they look at it like this, "hey that your problem not mine." The way people communicate is by putting you down in front of someone. Let me give you an example, I was taking my final exam in class, a student phone went off in her purse, the professor asked the student to come and turn her phone off, which her purse was sitting on the floor in the front of the class with everyone else property. Instead of saying she was sorry for interupting the class, she came back with a smart ass remark, "you don't put a Coach purse on the floor" This is the attitude you will receive. The heat is terrible and electricity bill are out of this world with the humidity at 100%. So ladies when you spend time fixing your hair as soon as your walk out the door, you hair falls, or your curls will be straight. I hate this place and the people that live here. I could go on but I think you get the gest of my view. I have lived her 25+ years, so I know what I am talking about.
