Tell Me its a bad dream - 10/7/2013
I moved here in 2011. I've lived in California, Arizona, and Illinois. I am a single female with a 25 year old son living away from home. I have thought about moving away since about a week after I got here but I need my job and it's rough after you reach a certain age anywhere. The things that have affected me most are: no less than 10 times have I been approached by a beggar asking for money for gas or food. Sounds normal on the streets of Chicago or San Fran. But I'm talking at the pump at a station or in a Linens store, Target parking lot. Just crazy places. Then, the feeling my IQ has decreased by about 10 points because of those I work with. These are degreed people who seem to think that proves they are really someone. I'm thinking the degrees here are pushed through for statistics sake. In fact, I think some grade or high school Administrators are in hot water over this very thing now. Really low quality common sense and logic. People are slow - in mind and body here. There is a difference in laid back and slow. This is SLOW. Traffic here isn't bad - try driving in L.A. or Chicago. This is nothin'! But, the bad part of it here is the mix of us aggressive Northern drivers mixed with that SLOW, ILLOGICAL, NO COMMON SENSE, and it's a recipe for disaster. Everywhere is gated. - Being gated used to mean it was special multi bazillionaires keeping stalkers out etc...here...it's the norm because break ins are the norm. No area is immune. Why should I need a gate? Is it to keep me in or keep them out. And, they're broke most of the time...or the break-in is by your neighbor anyway. They've got the code too. There is no rental price ceiling as I understand it. So your rent can go up $200 from one yr to the next. I've noticed an upward trend matching that of a coastal apartment in Cali or Lincoln Park in Chicago. For what? The roaches? The spiders? Bad bug population-I've been thinking of collecting rent from them. The best part of Atlanta is the airport - it's big and you can get outta here for the weekend quickly. Other than those things noted - it's a great place (sarcasm)!
