5/7/2011I moved to Bowie at the age of 4 & I've been here for the last 16 years. There was a slight influx of crime, but nothing to make you move out of the neighborhood. I've been here nearly my entire life and have never had problems with gangs, violence, drugs. My motto, about the crime in that area is, "if you don't go looking for it, chances are, it won't come looking for you." As a safety-conscious young woman, I can honestly say that I've ALWAYS felt safe here. If you're looking for a Utopia, Bowie is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for a great suburban place to raise a family, access to great jobs, and access to both rural and urban communities, Bowie is the place for you. Urban areas like DC & Baltimore are just a short distance away. Annapolis is just a few minutes down the road as well as several rural communities (they're a cross of rural and suburban). Like any other town/city, Bowie has pros and cons, but it truly is a great place to live.
