1/18/2014The rain in Port Orchard is typical to the Seattle area as a whole. I have a view rental in the area and love it there. The Olympic mountains are beautiful as well as the sunsets, close to foot ferry that takes you to the Bremerton ferry then to Seattle. It runs about every 20 minutes so is easy to use to commute. Pt. Orchard has many stores to choose from and if you want bigger stores (Costco) you can go to Silverdale just a stones throw away for that. Nice low home prices at the moment, look to the future, the property values will come back eventually, but have been flat compared to Seattle, Redmond etc.

1/18/2014Love living in rural Cottage Lake are of Woodinville (N.E.) We have a colder, rainier weather system here than nearby Redmond or Bellevue however. When it snows, we get much more and when it storms we get more of that too. Having a generator is a must as we loose power quite frequently in the winter (heavily treed area). Avondale Rd. is still too busy in the morning as we get quite a bit of traffic onto it close to the 520 interchange from Novelty Hill Road as many people are moving into the Redmond Ridge area, and traffic coming off the hill is still obstructive even after the county reconfigured Novelty.
Downtown Woodinville is a cute town with many options for shopping but lacks good grocery stores. The QFC closed last year so now your options are Top Foods or Albertsons only. No Whole Foods, or Trader Joes. I would love the QFC to return. We love living here, lots of large lots (ours is 3 acres) property values do reflect that however, but still not so high we have to move. It's a bit of a commute to Bellevue but not to Redmond. Not bad either if you work up North in Everett as you are going against the commute. Close to Bothell too.
