Odessa, TX
The place I was born -
12/9/2005I was born and spent some of my childhood here. We moved to New Mexico later on. My memory may be a bit vague of this place but I'll give it a shot.
Things I remember: It stank horribly. If it's not the oil refineries and drilling it's the tire factory. Everytime I drive past an oil refinery the stench reminds me of Odessa. Lot's of wildlife. It's hot. Not many friendly people, in fact they're the meanest in the country.
My mother said that Odessa was once the murder capitol of the country but I never noticed. I remember that the neighborhoods were actually pretty nice.
I'm mixed on whether or not that Odessa was a good experience.

Grew up in Albuquerque -
12/6/2005It wasn't bad actually. I lived there my whole life and did not have that many problems with crime. I've had my car broken into once but that was about it. The people aren't very friendly either.
On the plus side, the schools aren't that bad. Well a lot of them are but there are a few good ones. The weather is awesome as it's usually sunny all year round. If you like the outdoors there are plenty of things to do.
The Balloon Fiesta is overrated. Don't waste your time there.
