re:
Negative 1 STAR IF POSSIBLE

In response to the 73 who disagree. Do a Google Earth Street Search and roam the streets of A Harvey Illinois. Check out Turlington, Lewis, Wood Streets in Harvey. Look at Shea, Bulger, Head, Trapet- note how many Empty, Erroded houses and or the many, now, vacant lots (houses torn down due to disrepair. Certainly, there is such a thing as Pride in homeownership- right...

Hazel Crest, IL

Negative 1 STAR IF POSSIBLE - 2/16/2018
I grew up in Hazel Crest Il during the 60's & 70's. Hazel Crest was, once upon a time, a friendly "small town feel" where many people knew each other. It was a Great small town to grown up in up until about 2000. Over the years, and even slightly before 2000, The Black Population started buying housing in Hazel Crest Il (as well as: Homewood, Flossmoor, Glenwood, East Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills, Cherry Creek, Midlothian, Blue Island, ect... And along with the Black Population Moving Into these Townships, Violent Crime Came & In Large #’s - Crimes of all types. This drove out the remaining white people in a hurried fashion. The housing markets valuations suffered, the upkeep of property fell off and there u have it- as has happened to many of towns (large/small/medium sized) when black folk over take an area. This is why Cook County Il is one of the highest crime ridden counties in the country. Listen, I am not prejudice (wife is Hispanic & we have inter racial relations within our families- white & black). I am being forthcoming as to what is going on. Many of the black folk came from the City of Chicago And spread into Suburbs. Same/similar in What happened to Milwaukee Wisconsin. Once black folk learned that Wisconsin social services paid more monies than Chicago, Many blacks moved to Wisconsin which is the reason the crime rate sored in Milwaukee back during the migration late 80’s & 90's. That crime rate has been higher since. If you do not want to have to look over your shoulder while stopped in traffic (at 1:00 in the afternoon), then do not move to Hazel Crest. Look at the crime stats- 2 murders per year. When we grew up there, never a murder- only kids fighting off the neighborhood bully. Wow, how times have changed. I speak to folk from east to west and north to south & it is the same across the Countru- SAD. White Folk do Not hate Black folk anymore than Black folk hate white. But, why Do Black Areas have The Level of Violence and Murder in Comparison to White Areas with same/similar Educational & Income Levels...

Harvey, IL

Negative 1 STAR IF POSSIBLE - 2/16/2018
Harvey Il is a suburb of Chicago (south of Chicago city limits). The CRIME RATE is EXTREME and, The Housing Values Suck. Harvey's "hayday" ended in the Early 70's. After that time, the entire city went to the dogs. I am not biased/racist (spouse is Latino, we have inter-racial relations within our families ect... Discrimination goes 2 ways and Harvey went to the dogs when the Black Folk over took Harvey. The Housing was once Beautiful and clean. When the town changed from white to black, this is when the crime rate flew off the charts, Dixie Square Mall (where a segment of the blues bro’s was shot),Closed due too Black Crime in and around the Mall, housing values plummeted and the houses themselves were not kept up with. If you want to have to look over your shoulder and whom is next to you (as you set in traffic @ 1:00 in the afternoon), then move to Harvey Il.

Fallbrook, CA

NOT BAD, BUT, THINGS ARE CHANGING - 1/21/2018
Moved from O'Side (lived there 25 years), too Fallbrook 2016. I had worked for U.P.S. And Delivered The Entire F.B., DeLuz, Rainbow and Bonsall area from 1990 thru 1996. During those years and up until about 2005, F.B. was a really nice town with a "small town feel" that offered acreage, low crime rates, good weather and a small population. Around 2000, many Mexicans came into town. Around 2003, many Guatemalans followed. Before the Mexicans and Guatemalans came, The Apartments, mobile home parks and all of the houses were occupied/owned by Caucasians. The Military was able to get of work and drive minutes to their rented apartments/houses. Now, 98% of the apartments are rented by the Hispanic population forcing the Military members to drive to Riverside County towns- about a 45 minute commute 1 way. The Mexicans are upset because the Guatemalans came in and took over their jobs. Most all mobile home parks are also occupied by the Hispanic population and, many of the "outlaying areas" houses are being bought by the Hispanic Populations also. The remaining Caucasians live, mostly, in the outlaying areas. They are, for the most part: unfriendly, nosy, snooty, over-reaching folk. The crime rate has increased from, mainly, property crimes to: shootings/stabbings, drugs, gangs (hispanics), d.u.i.'s, burglary ect.... Weather is Good if you like it to be average of 90 degree plus in summer. past 2 summers have experienced a lot of humidity (global changes). Commute times out of town to get to San Diego County areas are increasing. Takes, at times, 40 minutes to get to Coastal O'Side.
There is affordable (relative) housing with larger lot or acreage if you can afford 600k plus. Most all of the 400k-500k houses up town are owned by the Hispanic Community. And, they are now buying in the out lying areas. Folk from L.A. County & Orange county have been buying in F.B., Bonsall ect... for the past 25 years due to the over population in those areas. Yet, F.B. is going to BLOW UP population wise within the next 3 years. Palomar College is opening a satellite location at the 78 & 15 junction and, tract housing is being built there as of now. The WORLD has become over populated during the past 4 decades and MUCH MORE TO COME...

Oceanside, CA

25 Years Lived In Oceanside - 1/20/2018
Moved to O'Side Nov 1988 (Lived there from 78 thru 79 prior to moving back in 88). 78-1979 was a Fun, Good, Relaxing Time to Live in O'Side- Low Crime Rate, Low Population and Low Cost of Housing. During the 70's & most of the 80's, there was an expansive amount of "open land" (land never built on). We had often wondered why people from the East Coast had not moved out of the lousy weather and to the land of "milk and honey" (California Dreamin). Fast Forward to the Turn of the next century:
O'Side has GROWN way too Big for most. Lets start with the Pros: Great Weather, Good Schools (including public- our 3 boys went to: Palmquist, Lincoln and El Camino High. They never had a problem and their grades were always very good. Shopping, a lot of choices. .

CONS: Housing Expensive (realative), Crime Rate is on the Rise, Overpopulated, Traffic is becoming terrible, People are Rude and in a Hurry. I believe the quality of life has suffered with the Over Population.

in summary, if the weather is the most important item, O'Side is Great.
Housing is Expensive but, for a Beach Community, it is realitively cheap.
The people are hurried and un-friendly. There is NO Small Town Community Feeling.
