6/26/2009Winter lake effect snow 200 inches average) and the hills and trails to go with it. Spring melt makes for great waterfall viewing, as well as river kayaking. Summer temps in the 70's and 80's with Lake Superior and hundreds of smaller lakes within a few minutes to a few hours drive - who needs AC? Fall colors in the Great North Woods makes for amazing camping trips. All that and so much more! No, there is not much to do in terms of human-created cultural activites b/c there aren't that many humans here at all - as is the case for rural, small towns!
I enjoyed living in a city in my early twenties, but this is where I want to raise my family. We can comfortably afford to live off one modest salary so the other parent can stay home to raise the kids.
Even though the majority of the voting population is Democratic, people here are fairly conservative. However, there is a growing population of young, progressive adults choosing to call this area Home.
