Chicago, IL

re: I finally left Chicago for Scottsdale - 6/18/2

I was born and raised in chicago, which have all had it's pluses and minuses. but The Phoenix area is, by far, the worst city to live in and scottsdale is right next door so the crime is really right there with you as well. It is very dusty and dirty, overcrowded and terribly hot. The average I.Q. of the residents has to be under 100. Contractors never keep appointments; and when they do, half the time they do a poor job. Houses are not selling because many were bought by investors that don't even live here, and many residents cannot afford the subprime loans they took out. City services such as police and fire are seriously lacking. The average wait time in an emergency room is well over 6 hours because all the illegal aliens use it as their primary physician. Traffic is a nightmare. Drivers here are crazy and serious accidents occur routinely. 40% or more of the all drivers here are uninsured. People in Scottsdale (Snottsdale) are full of themselves. Culture? Fuhgettaboutit. Not happening here. There is very little public transportation. Many of the people working in retail cannot speak English. There are very few good ethnic restaurants. The public education system is one of the worst 5 in the country. There is a void of leadership from the top down, starting with the governor. Scorpions, black widows and snakes frequent many neighborhoods. The meth epidemic here is out of control. Phoenix is the divorce capital of the country. Young women emulate Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears. On top of that, there aren't even any pretty mountains, lakes or beaches to look at. Just dirty, brown desert landscape filled with smog. And the people. Oh my God, they are more rude than New York! Need I say more? I could go on and on. I am getting out of here as soon as possible and if you are smart, you will too!

SO FAR EVERYTHING IS GOOD HERE
- 3/18/2007
HEY AFTER LIVING IN CHICAGO ALL MY LIFE ME AND MY WIFE WANTED A CHANGE. FOR ONE WE WANTED TO BUY A NEW HOME BUT IN CHICAGO THE PRICES ARE CRAZY, WE WERE ALSO TIRED OF THE SNOW AND THE COLD WEATHER. SO WE DECIDED TO RELOCATE, NOW AT THE TIME WE WERE LOOKING AT PHOENIX IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE AND RAISE A FAMILY ALONG WITH THE GOOD HOME PRICES, OUR OTHER CHOICE WAS AUSTIN,TX BECAUSE AT THE TIME THEY ALSO HAD GOOD HOME PRICES TOO. NOW BECAUSE NIETHER ONE OF US HAD ANY FAMILY IN AUSTIN WE DECIDED TO GO TO PHOENIX BECAUSE MY WIFE HAD A AUNT THAT LIVED IN PHOENIX. BAD CHOICE, THE MINUTE WE GOT OFF THE PLANE THE HOME PRICES SHOT UP THROUGH THE ROOF.LET ALONE PHOENIX HAS NO CULTURE TO OFFER,EVERYBODY AND ANYBODY CAN GET A GUN AND WALK AROUND IN PUBLIC. I THOUGHT CHICAGO WAS BAD PHOENIX CRIME IS ON THE RISE, I DONT KNOW IF ITS BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE FROM L.A. ARE MOVING THERE OR WHAT BUT YOU KNOW ITS BAD WHEN YOU COME FROM A BIG CITY LIKE CHICAGO TO NOTICE A ANOTHER CITIES CRIME WAVE. PHOENIX IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO RAISE CHILDREN NOR LIVE. THE CITY HAS NOTHING TO OFFER.THE ONLY THING YOU HERE ABOUT ARE SHOOTING AT NIGHT CLUBS, AND CAR THEFT, AND CAR CHASES. AND DONT FORGET THE METH CAPITAL.PEOPLE DONT WATCH THEIR KIDS AROUND SWIMMING POOLS OUT THERE ITS JUST CRAZY. SO AFTER LIVING THERE FOR 2 LONG HOT YEARS WE PACKED UP AND MOVED TO AUSTIN, AND LET ME SAY WE ONLY BEEN HERE FOR 2 MONTHS AND BOUGHT A BRAND NEW HOME FOR HALF THE PRICE OF WHAT THEY ARE SELLING HOMES FOR IN PHOENIX. SO FAR THE THE PEOPLE HERE HAVE BEEN OK NOT RUDE LIKE THE PEOPLE IN PHOENIX. AUSTIN HAS A LOT TO OFFER IF YOUR LOOKING TO RAISE KIDS,THERE ARE A VARIETY OF CULTURES HERE WHICH IS GOOD. PHOENIX HAS TURNED INTO THE BABY L.A.SO MOVE THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. AND THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT PHOENIX IS THAT THEY HAVE THE BEST WINTER WEATHER AFTER THAT YOU WILL BURN IN HELL DURING THE SUMMER TIME AND I DONT MISS THAT. AUSTIN IS THE PLACE TO BE, WAY BETTER THAN PHOENIX TRUST ME.
