Murrieta, CA

Do not be seduced by the square footage of the homes here in Murriea. Head north and stay away from any city within the 951 area code for that matter. Where do I begin? Having come from Thousand Oaks, I can tell you that Murrieta is an extremely poorly planned community. I hesitate even using the term "planned". Let's start with architecture. Every building looks completely different from the next. Where's the consistency? If you visit places like Thousand Oaks, Newport Beach, Calabasas, you'll notice uniformity in each structure. In Murrieta, you'll see nothing but a hodge podge of strip malls that can range from Spanish, to deco, to God knows what. This is why Murrieta will never attract the truly affluent. Has anyone seen the train wreck of a structure known as "Furniture Row"? I shudder each time I pass by. The leadership is either corrupt, or completely lacks knowledge of how to run a solid city, or a combination of both. Must I remind you of the mayor recall? As far as culture goes, what theaters are you referring to? Where does one go to see performances such as symphony, opera, the newest Broadway production? Museums? Forget about. In Murrieta, the closest thing you'll get to culture is Harry's on a Friday night with a piece of hair baked into the bread (yes, this really happened to me). Culture in Murrieta from what I've observed revolves around dirt bikes, tattoos, and the numerous fast food havens that the brilliant city council keep approving to be built. Shopping? No. One must head south to find a Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc... Schools? Negative. When you live in the Inland Empire, you don't send you child to public school. Most likely, your student will be amongst many to several "English learners" which as you all know is not a positive. Your only options for a good education are private, for the most part, and homeschooling. Let me just wrap this up by saying how saddened I am that Murrieta began with a clean slate but quickly became another common city filled with urban sprawl.
