Change isn't always good

I've lived in Myrtle Beach since 1974. And believe me if I could move I would! I used to love it here. It was a quaint & beautiful place to live, but not anymore. Yes all of the southern charm is gone & that's mostly because there are more northerners here than southerners. The seemingly harsh mentality has overshadowed the charm. Myrtle Beach has been allowed to grow to fast. Our infrastructure isn't set up for the huge influx of people moving here. Golf courses are converted into housing developments. Our forestry is being mowed down for housing developments. Our firefighters, police officers, & hospitals can't keep up. The beauty here is all gone. If there's a space to shove in more houses they are going to do it! We no longer get our roads & beaches back in the winter. We used to look forward to that break. It gave us a chance to breath & relax. Now so many live here our roads are always clogged. I think that's why you see crazy drivers. We're trying to get to work & we have to deal with tourists, & now mostly older drivers who won't go above 45mph in the left lane. It's maddening! This place has become a giant old age home, alot like some areas in Florida. It's also getting hotter. Again with all of our trees being mowed down the temperature rises. I miss the old Myrtle Beach. I guarantee that when a hurricane hits there will be more flooding than ever before because our forestry is dwindling. I know that everything changes but it's a shame that the beauty of this place is being destroyed so that we can cram in as many houses as possible.
