Not so bad -
4/19/2006I moved away from Atlanta about a year ago, and I miss it so much! The negatives people talk about are legitimate--high housing costs, crime, traffic (absolutely unbelievable), etc. Similar to a lot of other large cities. So what do I miss? Diversity--in every way--racial, sexual orientation, political, etc. Also, shopping, restaurants, entertainment in general is great. There are lots of jobs. There are plenty of lousy public schools, but also some very good ones in the metro area. I guess it's a mixed bag (like most places), and it just depends on what you like, what you can live with, and what is important to you.

4/19/2006Moved here about a year ago from Atlanta. Lots to like--no traffic, clean air, low cost of living. Plenty of doctors and hospitals. Shopping and good restaurants are limited. Definitely does not have the cosmopolitan feel of larger cities. Overall, public schools aren't great, although there are exceptions. Lots of private schools. Like any city, Macon has advantages and disadvantages.
