1/28/2021“Cool art stuff”?? Obviously, you don’t get out too much in Houston. Folks, the Museum District in Houston is among the top ten in the US. it is the best in Texas. The Museum of Fine Arts is rated 9th in the country. The Museum of Natural Science is among the top three most visited museums in the country outside of the Smithsonians. The arts scene is Houston is exceptional.

1/28/2021I grew up in Corpus Christi and still return occasionally. Corpus Christi is probably the most underrated city in Texas. Probably because it is not the picture of a stereotypical Texas city. Corpus Christi is a deep South Texas city. It is located in what is referred to as the Coastal Bend section of Texas.
Corpus Christi is referred to as the Sparkling City By The Sea. First time visitors get a bit taken back at the size of the city. Corpus Christi is large in population (over 300,000) and space. The city is expansive. I read an earlier review that referred to CC as a “small city”. That is completely wrong.
Corpus Christi is among the most natural beauty cities in Texas. It also has a few cool man-made beautiful sites. When you enter Corpus Christi along the coast, you drive over the coolest bridge in Texas, the Harbor Bridge. From the Harbor Bridge, you see the USS Lexington (WW II era aircraft carrier), Whataburger Field (among the top three minor league baseball stadiums in the country), and an incredible view of Downtown Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Bay.
One of the most beautiful drives in a Texas city is Ocean Drive in Corpus Christi. Ocean Drive has eye-popping views of mansions, Cole Park, windsurfers on Corpus Christi Bay (among the top five cities in the US for windsurfing), McGee Beach (that’s right, there is a beach in downtown), t-head and l-head where sailboats, yachts, and fishing boats dock, downtown Corpus Christi and the aforementioned Harbor Bridge.
Corpus Christi is the hidden gem of Texas. It is a fantastic city to visit. Nearby Port Aransas, Padre Island, and Mustang Island are home to some of the best Texas beaches. Lots of natural beauty for sure. Corpus Christi is also one of the better Texas cities to reside in. The petrochemical industry is active, but here is an example of good planning: the refineries are wisely located on the Nueces River and away from the the active areas of the city. You don’t notice them like you do in most southeast Texas coastal cities. Corpus Christi is isolated on the Texas map, and it is an awesome visit for business and pleasure.

Houston, TX: A Great Place to Live -
1/28/2021Houston, TX is one of the best cities to live in the US. Here is why: high number of jobs that pay well, affordable cost of living, among the top three medical communities in the US, one of the top academic universities in the country (Rice University), a high-quality public university (University of Houston), three law schools (Texas Southern, University of Houston, & South Texas College of Law), a state of the art freeway system only topped by the city of Los Angeles, two large international airports, a downtown area that has some of the most unique looking skyscrapers in the country and the largest uptown area in the US, one of the most ethnically-diverse cities in the country, the third best restaurant city in the US behind NYC & Chicago, multiple-planned neighborhood communities throughout the city with well-built and affordable homes compared to other cities in the country, many family-oriented parks throughout the city and so much more for residents to do daily.
This is my point. Houston is not necessarily a tourist destination like San Antonio. It is, however, a fantastic place to live for an everyday resident. This is the difference I see between Houston and other large cities in the US. Houston is not the most beautiful city in America, but it is not ugly either. It is an incredibly stretched-out city. It has areas that are like a forest. It has areas that stretch to the Gulf Coast.
Houston has a sprawling art and museum district. The Museum of Fine Arts is among the top ten in the country. The Museum of Natural Science is among the top three most attended outside of the Smithsonians. In addition, the Space Center is an outstanding attraction.
Yes, the weather is hot and humid in the Summer. The winter months have a few occasional chilly days, but for the most part are very pleasant.
Overall, Houston is an underrated city. Houston does not pretend to be a tourist destination, but the city has a strong commitment to be the best it can be for its citizens. In this area, they are outstanding.
