Property taxes - Rock Island County - 10/27/2007
We are approaching retirement age. As we review our current situation, we find that we are going to have to sell our home and relocate - because we cannot afford the property taxes (which increase every year) on a fixed retirement income. Taxes continue to increase based upon the growth of new homes, driving up the assessed value of homes. The reality is that Rock Island County does not have adequate taxes to support their expenses, so they are raising the property taxes.
