11/29/2009I live near the water and definitely dont pay 20,000 a year, that would be house ( on the water). We pay 7,500.00 a year on the water side of ocean ave. Taxes may be high, but you get what you pay for. The town is a great place to live.. people are nice, schools are great. nice neighbors. maybe its not in your tax bracket to live here.

A great place to live single or family -
11/29/2009 If your looking to move near the shore as a single person or family, West Haven is a great choice.
We used to live in Waterbury CT and it was too much city and crime compared to West Haven. Moving to West Haven, without a doubt, was the best thing I ever did. We lived a mile from Jimmies on the Beach and on the border of Milford. We had a great community of neighbors and friends. The people in that town had wonderful manners compared to other cities.
My daughter loved her school and being so close to the beaches was even better,the quality of life there was better too.
Every morning we woke up to the view of water. Yet , we were close enough to the post road to shop and have plenty of things to do.
We had to relocate to Massachusettes, and we are sooo sorry that we had to leave... I would move back in a second if given the opportunity to again. The schools are great, lots of things to do at the boardwalk in the summer and if you live near jimmies you can watch the fireworks from home.
I love it there and is without a doubt a great place to live and enjoy life
