8/12/2019I agree with you, Carol. I’ve lived here for 23 years and compared to San Jose, where I was born and raised, Santa Rosa is still a small town to me. I am a veteran and I advocate for disabled veterans here in Santa Rosa. There are many homeless veterans and others who desperately need care. We have some great supports (Redwood Gospel Mission, Crossing The Jordan, et. Al.) that helps hundreds of men and women in need. There is a great Christian community here as well, although you don’t hear much about it. We also have fantastic Veterans services in Santa Rosa, which have benefited me and hundreds of other veterans in Sonoma County. One of the very best VA medical centers in the nation is just 60 miles north in San Francisco. Ind, there are rough areas in this city, but the best course of action, including social services, affordable housing, etc., is for each one of us to reach out to those are struggling with addiction, violence, depression, suicidal tendencies, etc. As a Christian man, I have much to give to others. And there are many of us out here that live to help others.
