3/31/2022We are able to work remotely now, so moving permanently to Marco, we may decide to go further towards Naples as we are pre-retirement and do enjoy a mellow lifestyle but may need a bit more activity. It is completely different from Ca. but for us in a good way. Enjoy!

3/31/2022This is a beautiful town. Super clean, green, and people are happy. Cost of living is relative to where you are coming from. Also, depends on the area of Naples. The ocean is clean and warm I can spend time in it or on it and can cool off without the "shock" cold as in Southern Ca. water. My husband and I are 53 so we have done the city life. I would not be in Naples if I were single or had never experienced living in other parts of the country. The amount of activity is perfect and its fun that some months are more busy than others. Any beach area in the country will experience that no matter where you are that is pretty much a given. I love that people take care of their communities here, refreshing!

3/31/2022I know your post was written 8 yrs. ago. My husband and I are moving to Marco Island/Naples area from San Diego, CA. We want out of Ca. so relatively speaking it is not more expensive. Of course the further inland the more affordable. We have spent a lot of time there in the last year and found it very pleasant, super clean, and mellow compared to San Diego, which is a mess and just ridiculous with mean people. I am curious how it is going for you. Thanks

10/8/2021We just purchased a home here from San Diego, Ca. Marco island is so refreshing! It is Clean, no trash, people care about their yards and community with impeccable upkeep, no homeless and the weather is beautiful. We actually swim in the ocean as the temperature is warm and the water is calming! It is so green from the tropical rain. We are very active there is a nice new gym we found and everything is biking distance. The food is amazing! It is a true Island Paradise. Naples is a beautiful 20 minute drive for more shopping and restaurants, the drive is lovely, green and super clean which is something we don't see on the freeways of San Diego. Eventually we will make either Naples or Marco our permanent residence but for now we can enjoy it 4 or 5 times a year until we are able to cut ties from California!

7/19/2021I have lived here on and off for many years. I have enjoyed living in other cities much better. San Diego is ok, and the weather yes is moderate. The ocean is cold and the city is very dirty lots of trash and many many homeless that are very aggressive. Downtown is just bars and urine. Not a real city, the suburbs are clean and neat and safe. I think if you are just wanting to check out Ca. great ! But I am excited to move out of here again. And yes it can be affordable depends what part of SD you decide to live and with a dual income not a big deal. Also if you are willing to pay the highest taxes for well, nothing.

7/19/2021I have lived in San Diego for many years on and off. Unfortunately it has gotten so dirty, trash all over the freeways, clothes, shopping carts everywhere, homeless people that are very aggressive on every corner. Of course if you are in the suburbs 25 miles from downtown it is clean but not where a visitor would likely be. The weather is moderate no extremes, but the Ocean Water temp is cold the water and beaches are only clean at certain beaches. I am trying to be positive there are some beautiful spots but overall there are so many other beautiful areas in our country....
